National Contest "Um Banco de Jardim"
Urban bench designed for a requalification project "Experimentarte" in the city of Paços de Ferreira, Portugal.
With the intention of equipping public and municipal spaces with garden benches, these were understood as creative pieces of urban equipment that qualify the space where they are inserted, with dignity marking the particular character of this region with the title "Capital of Furniture". The proposals should present a modern solution for a garden bench for outdoor use, in the public places of Paços de Ferreira.
The proposal presented proposed a wooden and stone garden bench, which combines three functions: a garden bench, a side table and a bicycle rack, thus becoming a complete furniture equipment for any space in the city.
This project attempts to combine function andcomfort in the everyday’s urban use sphere. Searching for a better, correct and plenty assistance of seat’s space, this bench allows the placement of personalobjects on an outer seat’s support, which in turn has the function of bench'sbasis support. Additionally, the other bench’s holder provides a support for bicycles, thus allowing a pleasant break where we can keep our belongings around in a fast, affordable and suitable manner
